Since the appearance of the first car its design has been significantly changed. Modern cars are very fast, comfortable, and aerodynamic, yet it’s not the limit of the development in this domain. Thus Japanese designers have recently managed to create quite a futuristic car that looks very unusual.

This latest design direction of Mazda Company was called “Taiki”. The appearance of such an original design was inspired by the shape and flow of wind. Their challenge was to create “a design that visually expresses the flow of air and the atmosphere” - called “taiki” in Japanese. The shape of the car’s back, especially of the back wheels, has no right lines, but curves. It’s so unusual that it’s hardly possible to imagine that there was something of this kind before. Due to its shape given concept seems to be extremely aerodynamic, yet no other information about its characteristic features is available.

Anyway this gadget can be considered as a very forward thinking one. I would say that it’s a breath of fresh air in a slightly stale auto show season. However it’s not the fact that there will be a significant number of proponents of such a bold design.

At present the tendency to draw inspiration from the nature is quite popular. So wise designers like Haishang Deng try to find innovational solutions by studying what nature has already done. An absolutely new Chameleon truck was designed just in the same way.

His invention represents a bionic cargo transport that uses an innovative segmented body remarkably like that of a centipede. This enables the truck to adjust its size to the cargo load. In addition to the fact that the resilient soft tarpaulin shelled body is strong enough to protect its cargo, it also absorbs impacts in case of accidents. Moreover due to the materials used in its production the weight of this truck is twice smaller than that of its counterparts, and as a consequence it saves a lot of fuel. Another innovative design feature is the driver cockpit which can be lifted upward, i.e. over its cargo, instead of being built into the frame like in most vehicles today. This feature enables automated front loading without the need for additional support.

As far as the design of this truck is concerned I would say that it is as modern as possible. Yet some long-distance truck drivers may say that it’s too innovate. Nevertheless I think that just in 5-10 years trucks like this will make up the majority.

Just some time ago there were rumors about Eiffel Tower extension. However as La Societe d’Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel (SETE) declared there would be no extension, but redesign. Such a proposal made by Serero Architects lies in the redesigning of the top of the tower. Actually no one knows what will be the reaction of the French if this proposal gets approved by SETE. The problem is that after some time French people are going to celebrate the 120th birthday of Gustave Eiffel’s original inspiration. So, maybe it is not the time to make changes?

Yet aiming to “create a temporary horizontal extension of the third floor of the tower in order to increase the quality of the access of the public as well as experiencing the fantastic 360 degrees sight of Paris”, the designers of the project want to extend the to floor plate of the tower by grafting a high performance carbon Kevlar structure on it. The structure will be temporarily bolted to the slab without requiring any modifications of the existing structure.
